Breedlove at Puttshack

Breedlove recently celebrated summer and welcomed our new team members with a trip to Puttshack. Unfortunately a few employees had to miss out on the fun due to COVID, but the rest of us enjoyed having lunch, beer, and a few rounds of mini-golf in the air conditioning.

Welcome to Breedlove!

We are pleased to welcome Abby Phipps to the BLP Atlanta team! Abby graduated from UGA in May of 2022 with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. During her time at UGA, Abby contributed to a research project on terrestrial litter movement, which was funded by a National Geographic grant. Abby will be a valuable asset to Breedlove and our projects.

UGA College of Environment + Design Student Event

Breedlove Land Planning invited UGA College of Environment + Design students participating in their first-year studio classes to our Bishop office to see first hand what it’s like to practice landscape architecture. BLP employees led the students on a tour of the office and shared experiences of what a typical day might look like. The students were also given the opportunity to ask questions related to the profession, fielded by recent UGA CED graduates Laurel Fox, Jon Qualls, Ming Guan, Diamond Owens and Kaitlin Bryant. The Breedlove team also shared examples of recent projects which aligned with their current studio curriculum – conceptual master planning. The students gained insight from BLP’s experienced team on things to look for, design approach and lessons learned. As a bonus, BLP chef’s (Bobby Molleur and Joe Moon) treated everyone to a BBQ cookout. With 13 UGA Alumni currently on staff, BLP is excited to serve as a nearby resource for UGA students. We look forward to offering continued support to the University of Georgia – College of Environment + Design into the future!

John Montoya is joining our Bishop office for the summer. John is a rising junior at UGA majoring in Environmental Engineering. He’s a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and UGA Motorsports.

During their time at BLP, Courtney and John have been learning about stormwater management, construction documentation, and construction administration. They have several site visits scheduled to work on current BLP projects.

Breedlove Quarterly Meeting

Breedlove recently celebrated the end of a successful first quarter by bringing both offices together at North High Shoals City Park. BLP got the opportunity to practice their surveying skills and place a few friendly bets on elevation change. Our very own Matt Tanner also gave an in depth explanation on the ins and outs of baseball field design. The day would not be complete without a home run derby!

KSU Engineering Senior Design Expo

Last week, BLP’s Christian Bourguillon served as a judge for KSU’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET) Senior Design Expo. “It was inspiring to see so many projects that address real-world issues that directly impact our community,” said Christian. The graduating seniors showcased their capstone engineering design projects across the college’s six departments and disciplines. Throughout the semester, students have designed, built, tested, and presented these innovative projects. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish after graduation!
