Breedlove Land Planning recently attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for Village Park at North Henry, a 32 acre park in the Fairview community of Henry County. The park, with it’s village green feature, will serve as the community hub for special events and holiday celebrations. In addition, the park offers a splash pad water feature, a community facility, multiple picnic pavilions, (2) two multi-purpose sports fields and miles of multi-use trails. Breedlove Land Planning enjoyed working with Henry County SPLOST in programming, master planning and construction documentation for this great community amenity. Over the Fall of 2012, Breedlove Land Planning worked with Georgia Tech Facilities, Capital Planning and Space Management and Recreation departments to fast track the design and approval of the Roe Stamps Field renovation master plan. This 53 page documents provides guidance for the redevelopment of what is arguably the most heavily used multi-purpose athletic field in the Southeast United States. Since the completion of this master plan, BLP was approved to produce and permit construction documents. With little time to waste, this multimillion dollar site renovation project was been designed, engineered and submitted for permitting. By the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year, we hope to see this project completed. More updates will follow as progress continues!
Breedlove Land Planning recently produced the ‘High Falls State Park Dock, Boatslip and Boathouse Standards’ for the Department of Natural Resources. Working in concert with Georgia State Parks, this document will help guide future improvements to the boathouses and boatslips along the shores of High Falls Lake in order to ensure the health, safety and welfare of lake users and to protect view sheds and water access for all Owners. Interested Owners can receive a copy of this document at the park office. More information about High Falls State Park can be viewed here.
Breedlove Land Planning, as part of Team Elevate, was selected as a semifinalist for the City of Atlanta’s Trinity Avenue Farm Design Competition. The competition, which had approximately 80 registrants, was ‘developed to inspire creativity and innovation as the City of Atlanta works to establish an effective and inspirational model for urban agriculture within Atlanta communities—showcasing how fresh food can be grown locally and sustainably’. The site design, above, separates the site into a variety of zones, each intended to highlight farming techniques suitable for the ultra-urban to the suburban city environment.
Earlier this Fall, Breedlove Land Planning was retained by the Martin’s Landing Foundation to assist in the redevelopment of their community center piece, Martin Lake. Martin’s Landing is a planned community that consists of 1030 acres between the north bank of the Chattahoochee River, and Holcomb Bridge road within the city limits of Roswell, Georgia. It consists of 1,964 homes within twelve subdivision communities consisting of single family homes, patio homes, condominiums, town homes, and apartments. Breedlove Land Planning just completed a compressive master plan of the foundation property around Martin Lake and is now moving into construction documents for the project.
On August 19th, Breedlove Land Planning’s newest employee and recent University of Georgia graduate, Roger Wells, presented his senior project to the Georgia Association of Conservation District Supervisors (GACDS). Roger designed a site plan package for the Conservation Education Center that will provide a permanent home for GSCDS to build on their tradition of promoting the conservation of Georgia’s natural resources. You can learn more about the mission of GACDS and more details on the education center here.
