Last week both BLP offices got together at Fort Yargo for our quarterly employee meeting. We discussed all of the work we’ve done with Georgia Department of Natural Resources over the past decade and it was great to see our work at Fort Yargo including campsites, camper cabins, and the new Visitor Center. After a year of isolation we enjoyed having everyone together on a sunny day!
Camp Will-a-Way is in full swing! This summer camp is operated by Camp Twin Lakes, a not-for-profit organization that offers year-round recreational, therapeutic, and educational programs for children facing serious illnesses and other physical, emotional and life challenges. Breedlove Land Planning, as a consultant to Lord Aeck Sargent Architecture, designed numerous campus improvements that have rejuvenated this former State-run facility, including the creation of the new campus green pictured above. Both firms have donated a significant amount of time and effort to further the mission of this outstanding organization. Photo © 2010 Lord Aeck Sargent Architecture
The newest addition to Fort Yargo State Park is up and running. Breedlove Land Planning is pleased to have worked with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to develop their new yurt campground. The site is located on a quiet peninsula and provides campers with a low impact, yet comfortable way to enjoy the natural environment. Breedlove Land Planning designed a similar yurt campsite at High Falls State Park in 2007 and has been involved in a number of State Park projects including work at Cloudland Canyon, Magnolia Springs, and Red Top Mountain State Parks.
