Breedlove Land Planning recently attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for Village Park at North Henry, a 32 acre park in the Fairview community of Henry County. The park, with it’s village green feature, will serve as the community hub for special events and holiday celebrations. In addition, the park offers a splash pad water feature, a community facility, multiple picnic pavilions, (2) two multi-purpose sports fields and miles of multi-use trails. Breedlove Land Planning enjoyed working with Henry County SPLOST in programming, master planning and construction documentation for this great community amenity. Over the Fall of 2012, Breedlove Land Planning worked with Georgia Tech Facilities, Capital Planning and Space Management and Recreation departments to fast track the design and approval of the Roe Stamps Field renovation master plan. This 53 page documents provides guidance for the redevelopment of what is arguably the most heavily used multi-purpose athletic field in the Southeast United States. Since the completion of this master plan, BLP was approved to produce and permit construction documents. With little time to waste, this multimillion dollar site renovation project was been designed, engineered and submitted for permitting. By the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year, we hope to see this project completed. More updates will follow as progress continues!
Construction at the new Chamblee High School continues! The first phase of construction is in full swing with framing of the new Academic Building along Chamblee-Dunwoody Road nearing completion. Turner Construction is working diligently to meet the targeted opening date of January 2014. As reported on the School’s construction progress website, all existing school activities are being performed smoothly in conjunction with the construction.
Georgia Perimeter College is currently working towards the renovation of its existing soccer field at the Clarkston Campus. The new field will be reoriented and constructed with a sand-based rootzone mixture and underdrain system to allow for quick field drainage. This will allow for optimal play time in the event of small rain storms. The field is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2012 season. Breedlove Land Planning provided all site design and construction administration services to Georgia Perimeter College.
This Friday the Atlanta Falcons will hold their fourth annual team scrimmage this year at Norcross High School in Norcross, Ga. Kia Motors Friday Night Lights will take place on Friday, Aug. 5 and is open to the public and admission is free. This grassroots event includes a fan fest with interactive inflatable games, sponsor activation, a post event autograph session and a spectacular fireworks show. Breedlove Land Planning provided full site design services for this high school campus including the stadium complex in which the scrimmage will occur. The Falcons will taking the field at 7:30 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m.
The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) South Atlantic Chapter recently announced the recipients of their 2011 Project Achievement Awards which ‘recognizes outstanding achievement in the practice of construction management’. New South Construction Company was recognized for their superlative work in overseeing the construction of the Mount Pisgah Athletic Complex. This complex, designed by Breedlove Land Planning, includes an 8-lane track and field/football complex with parking, plazas, bleachers, concessions and other amenities. Congratulations to all the award winning firms.
Currently, the Fulton County Schools website has a construction page documenting where the school system ‘will be adding additional classrooms and completing renovations to existing school facilities.’ Among the many referenced projects where Breedlove Land Planning has provided site design services is the Banneker High School replacement. As the aerial photo from the site illustrates (above) grading operations are well underway on various campus improvements. More updates will be forthcoming as construction continues.
As the Tucker High School Construction Website states- ‘improvements at Tucker High School are moving along. Currently, Turner Construction has placed sod on the new football field, which includes a landscaped seating area. The goal posts have been placed and the new track is within a few weeks of being complete. Turner is also working on the baseball field, which is on the very back of the school site closest to Ball Park Drive.’ The school improvements should be complete by the end of the year.

The new Mount Pisgah Christian School athletics complex is completed. This comprehensive sports facility, designed by Breedlove Land Planning, celebrated its grand opening with a varsity football game to kick off the 2010 season (photo above). This new addition to the private school campus includes an 8-lane track and field/football complex with parking, plazas, bleachers, concessions and other amenities. Competition softball and baseball fields are located in the complex as well, allowing the school the ability to train their student athletes and host competitions at home in one facility.
