Coahulla Creek High School Living Wall

Coahulla Creek High School is currently under construction in Whitfield County, Georgia.  Breedlove Land Planning provided complete site design services for this new 95 acre campus nestled in the scenic ridge and valley geologic providence of the state, including this soil filled gabion retaining wall designed to protect existing trees and a riparian corridor.  A permanent seed mix was specifically tailored to provide the plant façade for this living wall.  The school is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2011.

Fort Yargo State Park Yurts

The newest addition to Fort Yargo State Park is up and running.  Breedlove Land Planning is pleased to have worked with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to develop their new yurt campground.  The site is located on a quiet peninsula and provides campers with a low impact, yet comfortable way to enjoy the natural environment.  Breedlove Land Planning designed a similar yurt campsite at High Falls State Park in 2007 and has been involved in a number of State Park projects including work at Cloudland Canyon, Magnolia Springs, and Red Top Mountain State Parks.

Duncan Creek Park Synthetic Turf Field Underway

Duncan Creek Park is an existing active recreation park in the Hamilton Mill area of Gwinnet County, Georgia. Due to the area’s huge youth sports population, the County decided to convert their worn-out and over-used natural turf field to the first synthetic turf field in their extensive park system. The excavation is mostly complete and the formwork has begun for the concrete containment curb. Stay tuned for further updates as this exciting project moves closer to completion in July.

Porter Branch Library Under Construction

Porter Branch Library is currently under construction in Newton County, Georgia.  The project is attempting LEED Gold certification and includes the recycling of roof water via an underground storage cistern and an innovative series of water quality treatment facilities with native plants.  The facility is scheduled to open in winter 2011 but you can watch it be built above.

UGA Special Collections Library Cistern Installed

Recently, the University of Georgia Special Collections Library rainwater cistern, designed by Breedlove Land Planning, was installed on site.  This cistern has a holding capacity of over 100,000 gallons and will treat stormwater pollutants, provide non-potable irrigation water for the 3+ acre site and will even provide water for a future campus project not yet under construction.  The building, designed by Collins Cooper Carusi Architects, is attempting LEED Gold certification and is one of approximately two dozen LEED projects Breedlove has provided site design services for.  Check out our main website www.landplanning.net for more examples.
