The much anticipated new branch of the Clayton County Library System is approaching opening day. Breedlove Land Planning, The Gerding Collaborative and Craig Gaulden Davis Architects teamed up in designing this eco-friendly building and site. The existing site was home to many large, old oak trees; the building was innovatively designed to surround and preserve them. The building also provides daylighting through many windows. The site includes pervious concrete to promote infiltration and native landscaping with the absence of sod and no irrigation to reduce water usage. Stormwater management is achieved through an underground detention system with infiltration bed, also promoting infiltration. Stayed tuned for updates.
