A groundbreaking ceremony is planned Friday, October 15, for a new high school in the City of Milton. Festivities begin at 11 a.m., and in the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be rescheduled to Wednesday, October 27 at 11 a.m. The yet-to-be-named high school is under construction at the intersection of Cogburn Road and Bethany Road. When it opens in August 2012, the 320,885-square-foot school will house up to 1,937 students in grades 9-12 in 99 classrooms. The school was designed by the architectural firm of Chapman, Griffin, Lanier, Sussenbach and Evergreen Construction is performing the initial phase of construction.
